WP eBay Ads – WordPress Plugin
WP eBay Ads – allows you to easily insert eBay product listings into your WordPress posts, and earn commission from sales. See the demo at the bottom of this page.
Insert a listing of related eBay products, on the single post page by using a custom field called ebay_search and either the shortcode directly in your post or by inserting a code snippet in your template file. The listings are completely customizable according to parameters defined in the admin panel. If you include an eBay Partner Network campaign ID, you can even earn commission! Also allows you to share revenue with your authors on a multi-author blog. Whoever wrote the post gets credit in the listings.
A few of the features:
- Specify the search with a custom field in the post called ebay_search
- Can call listings with a shortcode or in your template file or both!
- Allows you to use the eBay Partner Network
- Can share revenue with the author of the post if you desire
- Uses advanced search parameters
- Display is easily customizable
- Hides the affiliate link to ebay
Installation instructions:
WP eBay Ads is installed like any other WordPress plugin.
1) Download the latest version by clicking the button to the right.
2) Upload the whole directory into your wordpress plugins directory (usually, yoursite/wp-content/plugins). The plugin must reside in a sub-folder called “wp-ebay-ads” (lower-case!) as supplied in the zip file, else it WON’T WORK
3) Go into the WordPress admin panel, find Plugins and WP eBay Ads should be listed. Click Activate to activate!

nice plugin…i really appreciate…how can i add this in sidebar?
Currently there is no way to put it in the side bar. I look to add that feature in the next update. Thanks!
cool plugin, didn’t know it existed. Of anybody wants some good tips for selling on ebay go to my blog:)
thanks
I don’t think it works.
I tried to add a custom field to the post like the example (copy and paste) and it didn’t make any difference. The plug-in needs better installation instructions because the instuctions in readme file is confusing.
VK, did you follow the instructions on the following page?
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-ebay-ads/installation/
I must be missing something as well.
I’ve installed the plugin and it shows in the settings in the dashboard. I can also go to users and see the ebay campaign ID space (Left blank as I don’t have one, so it seems to have installed correctly.
I’ve added [wpebayads] to both a page and a post to test and I simply get a blank page.
I’m using WP 2.9.2 and an Artisteer designed layout. I have disabled all plug-ins, returned to the default theme but still have not had any luck.
Any suggestions?
Cheers, Scott.
Scott,
Have you setup the custom field on the post page? You must enter a custom field called ebay_search and then set the value to what you want the ads to show.
thanks
Hi JW.
Yes I have a custom field. I have the following info;
Main Page body I have “[wpebayads]”
Custom field “ebay_search” and field “painting supplies”
Any further suggestions?
Thanks, Scott.
Does not work in WP 3.0
Scott,
Are you using it on a page or a post? I never tested it on a page so that may be the problem.
Thanks…
Bert,
The current version of WP is 2.9.2
I just tried it in a Post instead of a page and it works so it appears you cannot create a page to display the products. This is a shame. Perhaps you could incorporate it into any future version as i’m sure it would be a great addition.
That’s a very good idea.
And it’s pretty easy to install.
That would be great if we were able to put it in a side bar. Please consider it for further releases.
But any way, thank’s for sharing such great plugin.
I am just getting into wordpress and how to use plugins etc. I have not as yet tried Ebay on my sites but would like to do so at some point. This plugin looks really good.
Please make this work with pages as Scott said.
http://www.naltar.com a growing e-mart on the web
Is this plugin updated because I am planning to use it on my upcoming sites
I dont why my last comment didn’t get publish..please tell me if this plugin still works with the latest version of wordpress
Thanks
I just upgraded this site to the latest version of wordpress 3.0.1 and the plug-in still works.
thanks
I’m confused. Do I enter my eBay Publisher ID or Campaign ID? I’d guess both of them would be required?
All you need is your Campaign ID. The Publisher ID is hard coded. You are welcome to look through the code and replace the Publisher ID with your own.
thanks
Thanks for your reply.
So it’s not against the ToS of the eBay afiliate program to use a different Publisher ID?
Also, is it possible to insert two different searches in one post?
I don’t think it’s against ebay ToS. For one ebay limits the amount of calls per a publisher id per a domain so that’s how the control it.
It is possible to search for two different items per a post. Just how you would search on ebay for two different things. For example….
(lamp,”bedside table”) – OR – brackets apply logical OR (also AND/OR I think) to all items in the brackets, whether single keywords or phrases, i.e. this will find all items with either “lamp” OR “bedside table”.

This plugin could save my a lot of time. Anyone tried it with the thesis theme?
Great plugins
Thanks a lot!
Hi. Bit of a problem.
I have the plugin installed, and accessed via php code in the template.
The problem is that when I click on a category or tag, only some of the posts are displayed. The last post returned will be missing everything after the plugin call, and there will be no “older entries” link.
Commenting out the wp-ebay-ads code returns behaviour to normal..
Suggestions?
Oh, and it always says dollars, regardless of the actual currency.. eg GBP..
Shame, as it’s a good plugin.
Hi JW – Thank you for the plug in.
Are there any options to override the plug in parameters within a blog post rather than in the settings section?
It would be helpful to pass any of the parameters in the Settings section of the plugin using custom fields like the ebay search field.
Does that functionality exist?
Thanks!
Drew,
Sorry that functionality doesn’t exist. I did intend on adding it when I was writing the plug-in but just didn’t get around to it. If I can get some free time down the road I’ll try to add it. I’ve got a lot of other projects going right now so I can’t promise anything.
Thanks
I am using the plug in on our site. When I add a ebay field to a post it causes a huge empty space before the ebay products start to show. Any way to fix this?
Webnuggetz,
Not sure what’s going on. All I can guess it’s something in your css or theme causing the space. I haven’t seen that problem before.
i am trying to activate the plugin, however i always recieve the following error:
Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error
( ! ) Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in C:\wamp\www\wp-content\plugins\wp-ebay-ads\wp-ebay-ads.php on line 891

As anyone else had this problem, any solutions?
Thanks!
Nope, that’s a new one on me. Not sure what’s going on.
