The Best Self Tanner for your money
Ok, I admit it –I’m a reformed sun worshiper. In my teen years, I would slather on a concoction of baby oil and iodine and lay on a shiny silver pad in the backyard for hours! I know, I should have known better; and I’ve been paying the price with trips to the dermatologist to get scary things removed from my skin, and freckles where there once were none. Even though I now slather up with a new concoction of spf number 10000, I still like some color on my skin during the spring and summer months. One has to admit, tanned skin still looks more flattering than pale skin –sorry Nicole Kidman.
This led me to my quest for the perfect self tanner. Remember the first ones that hit the market years ago? There was no denying that bottled tan! People were walking around looking like giant oompa loompas! Thankfully, the new formulas are so natural looking, it’s hard to tell the difference between a bottle tan and a sun tan!
I have spent many years trying to perfect my sunless tan. My search ended a couple of years ago when I came across Tanagement, from Nature’s Gate. I was just starting the switch from store brand health and beauty products to organic choices. I researched for hours on the Internet looking for shampoo, body and face lotions, and of course a great, organic self tanner that was natural looking, and smelled good. The smell was at the top of my list when making my decision. All of the store brands I’d tried, which were virtually everything on the shelf, all had a dirt smell. If you’ve tried them, you know what I’m talking about. There isn’t enough perfumy lotion to mask over that smell…not that I’ve found anyway.
T
anagment, by Nature’s Gate, not only smells great, but it goes on seamlessly, and dries fast. It doesn’t leave a brown residue on your clothes, and get this…it’s inexpensive to boot! Most organic self tanners I researched had claims of being the best, but the price was upwards of $30 dollars for a 4 ounce bottle! If you’re like me, I want bang for my buck, and Tanagement delivered the bang, and the buck didn’t bang my wallet! Ha! The only thing about this self tanner (and most), is that it doesn’t contain sunscreen. After it dries, just apply your usual daily sunscreen.
For best results, exfoliate your skin prior to use, and just reapply every other day or so. Be sure and wash your hands afterward to avoid staining. Be careful around knees, elbows, and ankles as well. Self tanners tend to build up in those areas causing dark patches.
Since using Tanagement, I’ve been asked many times where I tan, or if I’ve been to the beach recently. It really looks that natural. I plan on trying some more organic lines, such as Alba Organics, which I found for $5 on one website, so I will give an update as soon as the results are in.
Spring is just around the corner, so here’s to a flawless, good smelling fake tan!
