Want to look younger? Do these five things!
Aging is inevitable, right? Yes, but there are ways to slow down the process in many areas. One is our skin. I have written about the effect of muscle loss on our bodies already; knowing that maintaining muscle mass is a must in terms of staying strong, keeping a higher metabolism, and looking years younger. Now it’s time to talk about some simple things one can do to appear younger on the face and neck. Because, hey…there’s nothing wrong with a little healthy dose of vanity now and again. Here are my top, self proven methods to recapturing that youthful glow!
Healthy Snack Options
Do you ever feel like you can’t make it to the next meal without slipping up and eating something you know you shouldn’t because you can’t seem to feel satisfied?
Do you feel like you make bad choices for snacks because, well….you just don’t know what you should be eating? In our rushed lifestyles, we tend to eat the same things day in and day out, much of the time forgoing foods that are packed with nutrients to keep our blood sugar level and feeling our best. I am not a nutritionist (although I was a couple of classes short of a minor in it), but as an Exercise Physiologist, I feel confident in recommending these healthy foods to anyone who’s looking to ramp up their intake of fiber, antioxidants, heart healthy Omega 3 fats, and too many vitamins and minerals to count. In no particular order:
Self Tanner Madness! MyChelle’s Del Sol
I am a sucker for a tan. In my earlier post, I recounted my shady past as a sun worshipper. I’m serious…I used to have a problem. I could never be tan enough. I’m just glad I didn’t shrivel up like an old piece of leather before I saw the light -sorry for the pun. So, here I am with my new self tanner of the moment. I still love Tanagement, but am put off by discovering that it has…er, um, cough cough – phthalates. I have discovered that if the word “fragrance” is used in the list of ingredients, it is most likely a phthalate. The only time it isn’t is when the label specifically states “fragrance derived from essential oils,” or something similar. I tried Alba Oranic’s self tanner that smelled like a pina colada. It was really greasy, and guess what? Yup, you guessed it – the pina colada smell wasn’t derived from a real coconut.
Scentsy Candle Review
Remember when candles became the big thing ? There were candle stores popping up in malls and street corners everywhere! I used to have them in my living room, bedroom, bathroom – heck, even my foyer had a candle. Then I started becoming aware of synthetic fragrances, and the myriad of chemicals they contained; not to mention the headaches I got on a regular basis. So, soon it was out with the candles, and in with stale house smell. Ugh. I started using those citrus magic thingys, and putting pots of vinegar in my kitchen to absorb smells. I also tried opening the windows to let in fresh air.
Those methods worked fine, but I longed for that pretty smell my candles used to give my home. After I had kids, I succumbed to letting my house smell like baby puke and dirty diapers; I was too tired to care. A few months ago, after moving to a new house, my best friend sent me a house warming present that, to my surprise, was something I’d never seen nor heard of before: A Scentsy Candle. At first I was apprehensive about the source of their fragrances because of the whole phthalate issue. But I was assured that Scentsy Candle fragrances are phthalate free! After a few weeks of using my Scentsy Candle, I am so pleased with its effectiveness at giving my home a wonderful smell that’s not overpowering, aka -husband approved! What I really love about the warmer itself is the fact that you can choose one that goes with the color scheme of each room, which can tie in to your home decor beautifully! Got questions?
